Kymatio discussed human risk at the 2nd RIU Meeting on Educational Innovation and Digital Transformation

Kymatio took part in the 2nd Meeting on Educational Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Regnum Christi International Universities Network, held at Universidad Anáhuac Puebla in Mexico, with a presentation by Israel Morales, Director of Channels LATAM.

Innovation and digital transformation in higher education

From September 27 to 30, 2026, the event brought together CIOs, CTOs, CAIOs and digital transformation leaders from RIU member universities to exchange experiences, explore emerging trends and promote international collaboration projects.

Through conferences, workshops and panel discussions, participants discussed some of the main technological challenges facing higher education institutions, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, business continuity, risk management and the protection of digital ecosystems.

The event provided a valuable space to share best practices, identify common priorities and advance initiatives capable of generating a positive impact across university communities.

Human risk in educational institutions

During his presentation, Israel Morales discussed the importance of managing human risk within educational institutions and gaining greater visibility into the behaviors and situations that may lead to security incidents.

The increasing digitalization of academic and administrative activities has expanded the exposure of universities, professional teams and educational communities to threats that do not depend solely on technological vulnerabilities.

These threats include social engineering and, particularly, phishing, which exploits human factors such as trust, urgency and a lack of context to persuade individuals to disclose information, share credentials or take actions that compromise an organization’s security.

In this context, Israel emphasized the need to adopt a management approach that enables institutions to identify their exposure, improve visibility into risk and act proactively before certain behaviors result in security incidents.

Collaboration to address emerging digital challenges

The digital transformation of higher education creates new opportunities to improve the university experience, foster innovation and facilitate international collaboration. At the same time, it requires institutions to strengthen security and prepare people to respond to increasingly sophisticated threats.

The 2nd Meeting on Educational Innovation and Digital Transformation provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on these challenges and advance areas of collaboration for the coming years.
